Fifteen year old Tracy White was murdered in 1984.

Her body found dumped in a drainage ditch.

Her killer is never been found but two letters -- surfaced identifying three people who might have information on her murder.

-- at white is Tracy's mother detective -- Trout is with the Newport News police department.

And I have to tell you for -- I I don't know what to say to you I mean as a mom I can't imagine anything more horrible than hearing that your daughter's been found murdered and I'm so sorry.

-- thank you all right pretty that your family received a letter after Tracy's murder can you tell us the circumstances.

Well my husband had passed in 2007 and I was still.

A -- and things out of the garage and in one of the piles of things that came across a letter addressed to us.

And when I opened it that's when -- my -- you know some things that.

A lady evidently hit written.

I'm not called -- that -- Newport News police department.

All right detective Tracy was murdered in 1984 in 2011.

Your department reopen this case correct once we found out about mrs.

Her children talking about and in it she named three young boys.

Who they thought they had him could have information.

Or be involved.

But with -- it was another mother who wrote and your husband have the letter in his belongings.

You know in the gist of everything else that was going on could have forgotten it.

I'm not remembered it but.

I believe if I had seen it out would have done the same thing that did did you know the three boys who were mentioned in the letter no they were not familiar to me at all we Tracy had known them.

They alluded to to the fact that they were free -- acquaintances.

For free -- so it may be someone she knew from school.

What you know through some other things dealing with -- the key it's in the neighborhood did you suspect anyone at the time now.

So when your daughter disappeared there wasn't -- when it came to mind.

All right detected there was another letter that apparently also named these three same boys that was sent to a church earlier what can you tell us about that.

This letter bomb was approximately a year after she had disappeared.

And the letter also named three people.

So at the time when I got -- infamous white -- I had the -- people,Tom Brady says he won't watch HBO's 'H.

The original letter down and these same three names were named in them.

And that was years later went to -- letters years after the first slaughter came it was one year after the first letter so we haven't done the first letter to about a year after her death.

And the second letter was -- Eighty and 86 it was -- market basics right and then you found it many many years leaders are right now these three individuals -- they investigated detective.

They have the initial investigation was very thorough.

And I believe they'd only were able to track down two of --

And they did look into them they'd they'd been knowledge knowing each other but denied knowing Tracy.

What's interesting is that the police at that time said they had -- strong suspect correct what was that about why didn't they follow up on that in fact.

I remember reading articles that said that they were close to resulting.

Well they they did follow up on Nande out initial suspect.

They had -- for numerous.

Interviews come at some point he was arrested for another crime.

Com and was serving time up in Northern Virginia.

-- and they even traveled up there -- attempt ending to keep interviewing him.

-- at some point the investigation ended for -- and reasons.

All right now -- on it now detective right correct -- right and is there anything that you won't need right now as we go forward with this case as you continue to investigate it.

Yes the -- It it to me it's obvious that two different people wrote these letters one was handwritten appeared to be from a a male.

Appeared to be a juvenile and the second one appears to be an older female.

Obama and that was typewritten correct.

That's very clear from the right styles that that is two different people.

Phillies have to look and say OK maybe that there's a suspect kind of throw us off but I really like to find the authors of these two letters.

-- I like to speak to them in person.

And then I'd like to find out where they got their information.
